I’ve been to Greece many times- with kids and without kids. If you are planning a family vacation to Greece and wondering which islands are best to take the kids to, these are the best Greece islands for families.
Below is a short video of the best Greece islands for families:
Santorini
Santorini is hands down my favorite Greek island. Famous for its stunning sunsets and white-washed buildings- you can’t take a bad picture in Santorini! We love exploring the alleys and shops in Santorini! But my son’s favorite activity was the donkey ride! The experience of riding a donkey through the winding streets of Santorini’s cliff-side villages is definitely a unique and memorable one for kids. It’s a great way to explore Santorini! Plus you are giving the kids a break from all the walking!
Corfu
Corfu is known for its stunning beaches. When we were in Corfu, our kids loved visiting the Achilleion Palace, where they got to explore the beautiful gardens and learn about Greek mythology. But if you are looking for an easy beach day with the kids in Corfu then I suggest going to Glyfada Beach. It’s one of my favorite beaches in Corfu, it has crystal-clear waters and is ideal for swimming and playing.
Mykonos
Mykonos is another favorite Greek island. While it’s known for its nightlife, there are plenty of kid-friendly activities to do in Mykonos. We love visiting the Little Venice area, there are lots of colorful buildings and my kids enjoyed watching the boats sail by. Plus you can see the famous Mykonos windmill! Also definitely grab lunch at one of the seaside restaurants in Little Venice. Then, to burn off some energy, take your kids to the beach in Mykonos. I personally like the Platis Gialos beach because it’s not a party beach and the water is shallow and calm. It’s perfect for kids.
Naxos
Naxos is another favorite Greek Island for families. It’s a bit more laid-back than some of the other islands, but that’s what makes it perfect for families. My kids loved visiting the Temple of Demeter. They enjoyed running around the ruins. It’s a great way to teach your kids about ancient Greek religion and mythology. Don’t forget sunblock and hats for everyone! Don’t leave Naxos without visiting one of the Naxos beaches. My favorite beach in Naxos is Agios Prokopios, it’s a beautiful beach with soft white sand. You can rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach.
Sifnos
Sifnos is another Greek Island for families to visit. This island is known for its stunning beaches and traditional villages. Our kids had a blast visiting the local pottery workshops and where they got to see the potters at work.
So there you have it, here are the best Greece islands for families. Each island has its own unique character and charm, and there’s plenty for kids to see and do on each island. If you are short on time and need to pick one Greek island to visit, I suggest going to Santorini. It’s my favorite Greek island!
