Are you looking to take your kids biking during the days you are not visiting theme parks? Around Orlando, there are numerous kid-friendly bike trails. I’ve included a list of paved bike trails with low vehicular traffic that are suitable for families.

I’ve also noted on the list whether there are any playgrounds nearby if you need to take a break from biking. These bike routes are free to use, all you need to do is rent a bike or bring your own bike. Here are 8 kid-friendly bike trails you can take the kids to in Orlando.

1. Bike Trail at Blanchard Park

Blanchard Park is a beautiful park located 20 minutes east of downtown Orlando. There is a paved bike trail that is perfect for kids. This bike trail is part of Little Econ Greenway. It’s a scenic bike trail since you will be biking along a river. When the kids are tired of biking, you can take them to the playgrounds, check out the people fishing or have a picnic lunch. There are restroom facilities at the park.

2. Lake Baldwin Bike Trail

Lake Baldwin Trail is a family friendly bike trail that loops around Lake Baldwin. It is a 2.5 mile long paved bike trail that is 12 feet wide. It is great for families because the bike trail is shaded and off-street. If your kids need a break from biking, there are restrooms, picnic tables, and a playground right in Lake Baldwin Park.

3. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort Bike Trail

For the ultimate kid-friendly bike trail, take your kids on a bike ride at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge resort. Pick up your bikes at the bike rental shop at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge resort. Then bike the 3 mile paved bike trail from Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort to the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

The Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is a bike-friendly campground nestled in a 750-acre pine and cypress forest. Keep an eye out for roaming armadillos, ducks, bunnies, and deer. Stop in to see the horses at the Tri-Circle D Ranch, which is right by the entrance to the Fort Wilderness Campground. Visit the stables to admire Cinderella’s ponies and the handsome horses of Main Street, USA.

If you need a snack break, head over to the Settlement Trading Post located in the Campsites of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Then return your bike at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge bike rental shop. Be aware that you have to be a Walt Disney World Resort guest to use Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort bike trail.

4. Orlando Southeast Trail

The Orlando Southeast Trail is a family friendly bike trail located 20 miles from downtown Orlando. The trailhead is located at Heroes Community Park, which has parking, a playground, and facilities.

The Orlando Southeast bike trail is approximately 13 miles long and 12 feet wide. Because 90 percent of the bike trail is off-street, it’s perfect for families. You’ll also cycle through varied suburban and rural areas, with trees providing shade.

5. Orlando Urban Trail

The Orlando Urban Trail is a family friendly bike trail located near Downtown Orlando. It’s a short bike trail that is approximately three miles long and twelve feet wide (perhaps the perfect length for kids).

Orlando Urban Trail is a scenic bike trail that winds through six lakes and two bridges. Be on the lookout for turtles and blue herons! The family friendly bike trail is paved with 85% of the trail being off-street.

You can park your car at Loch Haven Park which is home to a science center, museums and performing arts theaters or you can park at the trailhead at Gaston Edwards Park.

6. Celebration Florida Bike Trail

Celebration Florida Bike Trail is a kid friendly bike trail located 2 miles east of Disney World. Celebration is a lakeside planned community developed by the Walt Disney Company.

Pick up your bikes at the Town Center’s Celebration Bike Rental. Then bike through neighborhood streets, alongside ponds and wetlands. Be on the lookout for wildlife from birds, deer, turkey and even otters!

The family friendly bike trail at Celebration is paved and mostly off-street with numerous boardwalks. Stop by the bike friendly town center for lunch or snack. They even have bike racks for your bikes while you shop or eat!

7. West Orange Trail

West Orange Trail is a 22.26 miles bike trail. It is a paved bike trail that runs from Winter Garden to Apopka. As a multi-use bike trail, you will be sharing the trail with horseback riders, roller bladers, skaters, hikers, runners and joggers. There are playgrounds at the Chapin Station, Winter Garden Station, Apopka-Vineland Station and Apopka Station. You can even stop by the butterfly garden at the Tildenville Outpost. There are restrooms along the way.

8. Lake Underhill Path Bike Trail

The Lake Underhill Path is a family-friendly bike trail, located three miles east of Downtown Orlando and next to the Orlando Executive Airport. The 2.5 mile bike trail is paved and 12 feet wide. It’s a nice bike trail because it loops around Lake Underhill connecting six city parks, from Festival Park to the Park of the Americas, as well as restaurants and shops.

Because the bike trail is part of Orlando’s Workout Trail System, you can stop by one of the fitness stations along the way for a break from biking. If you have plane-obsessed children, seeing the small private jets and helicopters take off and land at the Orlando Executive Airport will be a highlight of their day.

Do be aware, that if you bike the entire path, you will have to cross streets, overpasses and will be biking alongside roads. Plus the bike path is lacking in shade. Park and bike at the Col. Joe Kittinger Park if you want to see the planes. There is also a playground at the Col. Joe Kittinger Park. If you want to bike lakeside, park and bike at Lake Underhill Park.
